You can get directly to the Splendid Chest using the Springer or a flying mount with Bond of Faith. From the Spiral Waypoint go north, about a half way to the next Sperrins Waypoint, turn right. Use a mount to jump/fly on the right rock, then jump in south direction until a brink where the mounts are disabled.
Yeah, the raptor even in perfect conditions for itself is still only perhaps 4% faster than the jackal. After getting the jackal I found no more reason to use the raptor.
